    Scottdale, Georgia is a community located in DeKalb County, Georgia. Just 3.5 square miles, Scottdale is a short 20 minute drive to Atlanta. It was originally named for Colonel George Washington Scott, the same man who founded the Scottdale Cotton Mill in 1800. Although the mill shut down in 1982, it had become so developed by that time that many of the workers found jobs in the nearby metro Atlanta area.
